A2 Work 2013

How have you tried to facilitate and encourage your own creativity?
When encouraging my creativity, I found it good to talk to people around me and discuss ideas. By doing thing, they were able to offer their advice or their own  ideas, which developed my ideas and allowed me to make changes and edit them. I also did research on the tasks such as the genre research, which gave me inspiration to come up with creative ideas.

Did you experience limits/blocks on your own creativity?
I occasionally came across blocks such as when we were working in a group of 4, it was harder to listen to others ideas, and quite often felt like no one would listen to you, which knocks your confidence and can make you feel like you should just stay quiet. I also found that when you are put on the spot, I am less likely to be creative because it means I have to think on the spot.

How easy/difficult was it to be creative while still working to the brief?
It can be limiting in the sense that you have to stick to one thing which can make it feel as if your ideas aren’t original. However, at the same time, it can be slightly easier because you have a broad task and the fact that it was a brief gave me a starting point so I was able to know where to start and the sorts of things that I needed to do.

Did working within conventions stifle your creativity?
Some people would say that working within the conventions will make it harder since you have to stick to one thing, and I can understand this, however, I do think that it is important because it gives you a starting point and it makes it easier to research the conventions and think of a way of putting them into the task

To what extent did you need to work with others and ‘bounce ideas’ off other people to be truly creative?
I had my own ideas, which I was quite creative about, but I think it is really important to ‘bounce off’ ideas so that everyone can have a say, and each input their creative ideas

How much of your creativity was about trial and error?
Quite a lot, if something wasn’t right, I wanted to fix it, which made me think deeply about what I needed to do in order to do this, and therefore my creativity was tested and pushed

To what extent was a lack of confidence an issue in terms of your creativity?
I can be very self-conscious, and therefore I think that lack of confidence stopped me from sharing my ideas from the group

To what extent was a lack of technical competence/confidence an obstacle to your creativity?
We didn’t have any money, which meant we had to be creative with what we had, which I would argue is a good thing, since it means you have to be creative with the materials you have around you. However, having technology would have helped and having a budget because it means you can do more things, such as 3D camera and CGI, which some people would say helps be creative and create new fresh ideas.

What images do they use?
Images of a little caravan, a run way, them playing guitars and hanging, them standing in the park, them being sociable. There a clips of cars on roads, and a little toy caravan. A lot of the footage is as if they are in the car, either being filmed in the car or filming the sights as they go past them.
How do the images link to the song?
The images of her in the car, and the mini caravan show her being taken away from the place that she is in, which links to the song name ‘Out of this town.’ At the beginning, there was a clip of a run way and a plane taking off, again, linking to the idea of getting away from where she is now.
How does it promote the band/singer?
There is a lot of footage of her, you also see her singing and playing guitar.
How does it get you to remember the song?
It is quite original, and is interesting because they used a mini caravan, and that footage stays in your head
